TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) conducted an orientation for the beneficiaries of the city’s Government Internship Program (GIP) recently at the City Hall Conference Room.
The orientation is aimed at familiarizing the interns with their expected roles and responsibilities in assisting and supporting various tasks and projects within the local government office. PESO personnel also provided information on their employment details, such as office decorum, wages, internship duration, dress code, and attendance requirements.
This year’s GIP has 80 beneficiaries, and although around 40 attended the orientation, the remaining half will be accommodated through an additional session that will be scheduled.
According to PESO Head Loyda Saboy, the interns will work for six months, from June to November of this year, and will receive a daily stipend of PhP 360.
She said that the project provides an opportunity for interns to showcase their talents and skills in public service. It also serves as an avenue for them to develop proper work ethics and attitudes in public office settings.
Henry Gupaal, acting as the representative of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, conveyed the mayor’s words of encouragement to the interns, emphasizing the importance of diligence in their work and urging them to make the most of this valuable opportunity to acquire knowledge in the field of government operations.
Upon successful completion of their six-month internship, the interns will be awarded a certificate of completion by the city government as proof of their practical work experience, enhancing their credentials for future career endeavors.
The GIP is a component of the KABATAAN 2000 program, established under Executive Order No. 139, s. 1993. It aims to provide opportunities for young workers aged 18–30 to contribute to the general public by engaging in projects and services within government agencies and offices at the local and national levels.
