The region-wide implementation of intensified anti-illegal drugs operations by the PRO Cordillera cops resulted in the seizure of more than P5.9M worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of five drug personalities in a weeklong operation conducted from December 3-9, 2023.
Citing the records from the PRO Cordillera Regional Operations Division, the five drug personalities were arrested after being caught in possession of a total of 2.66 grams of shabu with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php18,088.00. They will be facing charges for violating R.A. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The same report disclosed that the Baguio City Police Office (CPO) recorded the highest number of arrested drug personalities with three arrested this week, followed by Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) and Kalinga PPO with one arrest each.
Meanwhile, in separate marijuana eradication operations conducted in the province of Benguet, the operatives have discovered a total of 22,330 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants, and 12,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops with an overall SDP of Php5,907,276.00 planted in four clandestine marijuana plantation sites.
All marijuana plants discovered were burned after proper documentation, while follow-up operations are being conducted to identify possible marijuana cultivators. (PRO CORDILLERA PIO)
