TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Philippine Statistics Authority-Kalinga is urging Tabuk farmers, fisherfolks, and local government units to participate in the upcoming Census of Agriculture and Fishery (CAF) to help the government obtain accurate data to formulate policies and programs for the development of the sector.
The CAF will be conducted from September 4 to October 25, 2023 with 30 enumerators to be simultaneously deployed to collect information from households, agri-related businesses and institutions, and barangay local government units.
The census will cover the following 19 barangays selected based on the number of operators and farmers in their area: Appas, Bulanao, Balawag, Cabaruan, Gobgob, Laya West, Magsaysay, Nambaran, Nambucayan, San Juan, Bulo, Cudal, Dagupan West, Lacnog, Malin-awa, San Julian, Bulanao Norte, Ipil, Lacnog West.
Enumerators will collect data using three methods: computer-assisted personal interviews, self-accomplished questionnaires, and paper and pen interviews.
The PSA-Kalinga hopes that responders will be receptive and cooperative in the census as this will form the framework of the government’s development plans for the agriculture and fishery sectors.
Conducted every ten years, the CAF is an inventory of the country’s agricultural and fishery resources.
It aims to collect basic information on the kind of crops planted in an area, the land area planted for each crop, the kind and number of livestock and poultry raised, the kind of species cultured in aquafarms, and information on fishing activities, among other data.
It also gathers statistics on the distribution of agricultural lands, and the structure of agricultural, aquaculture, and fishing operations, among other information.
