Public elementary and secondary school teachers, School’s Disaster Risk Reduction Management coordinators underwent a rigid training on Community Action for Disaster Response and Emergency (CADRE) on May 20-25, 2019, in two batches.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRM) of the City Government of Baguio, in cooperation with the Department of Education of Baguio City Division, facilitated the training held at the CDRRM building, City Engineering Office Compound, Lower Rock Quarry and at the vicinity of the City Camp Lagoon.
The objective of the CADRE course training is to train the participants with the basic knowledge and skills to respond safely during disasters and emergencies.
The different facilitators focused their topics, through lecture and demonstration, to the following topics: The common hazards and family preparedness; Securing family and preparing for response; Incident command system and CQRST; Dead body management; Basic search and rescue; First aid and basic life support; and fire emergencies.
The participants demonstrated their capacities on the processes of the different rescue types to be done during a disaster. The CDRRMO trainers, staff and nearby residents, witnessed the conduct of the different events that took place in the vicinity of the City Camp lagoon.
Public Health Nurse Eddah Grace B. Devera and Engineer Paul B. Lomas-e, participants from the Division Office of the Department of Education, in their concluding remark during the closing program, reiterated the importance of the training which envisions everyone in securing a safe society.
