TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Around 236 beneficiaries our of the 328 individuals under the Cash for Work Program for Persons with Disability (PWDs) from various barangays in Tabuk City received their pay out from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the KALAHI-CIDSS Project at the Senior Citizen’s Office on December 3, 2022.
Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero, expressed gratitude to the national government, represented by DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo, for carrying out the initiative to assist PWDs by offering a means of compensation.
PDAO designate Mary-dhel Lattot spoke on behalf of City Special Concerns and Coordinating Officer Glen Wansi, who claimed that the PWDs worked for 10 days in their respective areas in exchange for PhP 3,800 in pay.
Lattot explained that the selected beneficiaries given the opportunity to work for the said program were taken from the 2015 list of the DSWD.
The second group who are slated to receive their compensation next week will be individuals who did not get paid today.
The mayor added that because the city government used the list provided by the national government, the recipients were not selected in a discriminatory manner.
He is hopeful that all PWDs in the city will be given the same opportunity if there would be a next project that will be given to them. By Ian Jefrey Addatu
