MANKAYAN, Benguet – The members of the Regional Development Council of the Cordillera Administrative Region (RDC-CAR), with the provincial government of Benguet, spearheaded by youth development officer Francis Louis S. Likigan, through the Cordillera office of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA-CAR) launched the Autonomy Youth Forum and Literary Musical Competition attended by to three hundred five students from Mankayan National High School and Lepanto National High School at the Carlos Palanca theatre, Paco, Mankayan, Sept.30.
The forum commenced with a background and updates on Social Preparation of CAR into an Autonomous Region (SPCAR) whose purpose is to prepare the region towards autonomy through its three main thrust: Information, Education and Communication (IEC), Alliance Building (AB) and Capability Building (CAP).
Meanwhile, Joel M. Cervantes, IEC speakers’ bureau presented basic concepts, historical background, and the three core messages of Cordillera Regional Autonomy. An open forum, mock plebiscite and signing of statement of support was conducted after the presentation.
A representative from Mankayan, Digno Valentin, municipal administrator, encouraged the youth to get involved and know their role in the society.
Moreover, participants joined the literary musical competition in the afternoon with a theme Youth and Autonomy which composed of Jingle Writing and Singing Contest, Poster Making, Slogan Making and Essay Writing Contest.
The activity concluded through a presentation of outputs and giving of awards.
