BAGUIO CITY – The Infrastructure Development Committee (InfraCom) presided by its Co-chairperson Arch. Maria Jorquesa Hakcholna conducted its 2024 1st Quarter meeting on February 20, 2024, at the RDC Hall, NEDA-CAR Compound, Leonard Wood Road, Baguio City.
One of the agenda during the meeting is the endorsement of four infrastructure projects in Mountain Province as presented by Mr. Aris Della Jr. of NEDA-CAR. The proposed projects include the concreting of the Natonin, Mountain Province-Aguinaldo, Ifugao Road and the three projects in Sadanga, Mountain Province subject for OPAPRU funding namely: Concreting of the Sacasacan-Belwang Road; Improvement of Sachungor-Saclit Road; and Sadanga Tribe Multi-Purpose Hall.
Mr. Della highlighted that the approval of these projects would benefit the 2,207 residents in the municipality of Natonin particularly in barangays Poblacion and Banawel that are highly susceptible to flood and landslide.
Meanwhile, 1,748 households in barangays Poblacion and Sacasacan in Sadanga are expected to benefit from the road opening projects as it will increase their agricultural productivity and farm household income. The establishment of the Sadanga Tribe Multi-Purpose Hall in Barangay Saclit, Sadanga will benefit 175 households, as this will serve as the venue for their cultural, educational, and sports activities and as their evacuation center in time of calamities.
The endorsement of these infrastructure initiatives signals a proactive step towards fostering sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for communities in Mountain Province. It is also aligned with the strategies outlined in the Cordillera RDP 2023-2028, which are modernizing agriculture, ensuring food security, expanding and upgrading infrastructure, ensuring peace and security, promoting social environment, accelerating climate action, and strengthening disaster resilience.
Other agenda of the meeting included a report from the Sub-committee on Communications, flagged projects under the RPMC Alert Mechanism, and updating of the RDIP PPAs. By Roma Andrea T. Bautista and Gerald Segundo
