TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-CAR presented an award today to the city government and the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) for their support to the implementation of the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) Sustainable Livelihood Project (SLP) of the agency.
The presentation of the award took place during this week’s flag raising ceremony, with acting City Vice Mayor Lucretina Sarol accepting the recognition for the city government, and Eusebia Edduba, Social Welfare Officer IV and Aida Bermillo, SLP focal person, for the award of the CSWD, presented by Micah Joy Mahener, project development officer of SLP, representative of the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Office Kalinga.
Mahener said that the recognition was conferred because of the involvement of the city government through the CSWD in all the stages of project from pre-implementation, to social preparation, resource mobilization and project implementation, providing all the necessary assistance, monitoring and assessment needed by the program beneficiaries.
Aida Bermillo, the focal person on SLP of the CSWD said that in 2023, only barangays Naneng and Agbannawag have received the third and last tranche of financial grant of P300,000.00 each for the successful implementation of their proposed livelihood projects.
These two barangays have received a total of P900,000.00 each from DSWD-CAR.
Meanwhile, only the first tranche of grant of P300,000.00 were provided to barangays Amlao, Bulo Calaccad, Calanan, Dilag, Guilayon,Ipil, Lacnog,Lacnog West, Lucog, Magnao, Magsaysay, Nambucayan,New Tanglag, and San Juan.
The release of the second tranche with the same amount will depend on the result of the on-going assessment, Bermillo explained.
Bermillo is optimistic that the recipient organizations from these areas would also succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors so they will receive their next cash grant.
Based on records of CSWD, the recipient organizations have engaged in sari-sari stores, bakery, retail sale of rice, fuel products, poultry products and stationery,as well as production of fresh meat and tilapia.
The PAMANA-Sustainable Livelihood Program is a capacity-building and livelihood program that helps develop the personal, social, entrepreneurial and technical skills of the duly organized SLP associations composed of a group of potentially enterprising individuals within conflict-affected or vulnerable areas as determined by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, Unity (OPAPRU).
