As DepEd gears up for IT integration and developments in the teaching-learning process, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sabangan procured eighty three (83) 55-inch smart televisions through the 2019 Special Education Fund (SEF) in the aim of the present administration to support DepEd-Sabangan District on total computerization and digitization in the teaching-learning process.
Mayor Marcial C. Lawilao, Jr.; Vice Mayor Dario P. Esden, Sr.; and members of the Sangguniang Bayan turned over the smart televisions to DepEd represented by the different school heads and Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) officers during the Monday program, January 20,2020 at the Municipal Grounds, Poblacion, Sabangan, Mountain Province.
In his message, the mayor conveyed support for the teachers and lauded them for their relentless efforts in shaping the minds of the youth. He said that this symbolizes his commitment to address the needs of the educational sector, especially in the technological advancements geared to meet the needs of the 21st century learners.

“We, in the local government are one in supporting DepEd in all of their endeavours. We want our children to receive all the best tools needed in their learning process. This is only the start of what’s more to come for DepEd. As a matter of fact, these smart TVs to be distributed today are only the first batch because we still have the remaining fifty four (54) smart TVs to completely make all our classrooms equipped with this equipment. We are also looking into the upgrading of internet connection to go with these advancements but this aspiration may come later. These are all dreams at first but it was answered through the collaboration of the LGU and DepEd. Let us continue to work together to attain our goals for our children,” Mayor Lawilao said in his message during the monday program.
In response, School Principal Joel Francis Licayo, delivering the speech of PSDS Nestor A. Morareng, emphasized the delight and excitement of the DepEd family from the supports being shown by the LGU.
“This is a feast of cooperation for the officialdom of Sabangan. This action is indeed paving closer to the goal of DepEd on computerization and digitization of learning. Imagine how easier it would be for our teachers to present their lessons in vivid colors in the big screen. This is truly amazing and only smart leaders can perceive how to equivocally support the young minds of the 21st century learners with their needs,” said Principal Licayo.
Education and Holistic Child Development is one of the priority programs of Mayor Lawilao. In fact, in the recently concluded 2019 provincial athletic meet, the full support of the LGU was shown by the complete set of uniforms of the athletes as what the Mayor said, “giving them more than what they could’ve expected.”
“This is actually fulfilling my promise to our stakeholders and partners in development during my campaign period because it came about as one of my specific observations in our schools. We have the resources to enhance the educational system of our country and we want to be contributory to that by making small actions within our area or responsibility,” Mayor Lawilao added.
Moreover, in the resolution of the Local School Board (LSB) for 2020, aside from the additional purchase of smart tv’s, part of the incoming highlights would be the procurement of 1 million worth of reference books and PE uniforms with ID for all learners within the municipality.
