LUNA, Apayao – Rep. Elias C. Bulut, Jr. underscored that the importance of a well-deserved culmination of the services of Dr. Nieves A. Dacyon, former president of the State-run Apayao State College (ASC), in the academe and the whole province.
In his message during the retirement ceremony that was accorded the former ASC president recently, Bulut claimed that Dacyon’s service of close to 5 years as College President and more than 3 years as College Professor embodies her dedication to the students and concerned stakeholders of the higher education institution which was considered as the fastest growing state college in the whole Cordillera over the past several years with her at the helm of the school’s leadership.
The lawmaker extended her gratitude to Dacyon with ample recognition of her vital contributions in improving the delivery of quality education and more importantly, the competitiveness of the education offered by ASC to its students.
According to him, Dacyon was a staunch supporter of the numerous programs, projects and activities of the provincial government when he was still the province’s governor.
Further, Bulut cited Dacyon’s personal efforts to actively collaborate with the province’s undertakings that contributed in establishing a harmonious working relationship among concerned government agencies, the local governments and the academe where such partnership yielded positive results in various fields.
“Thank you very much Dr. Dacyon for sharing your time, competence, and professionalism to our students in Apayao. I wish you the best in your future endevors,’ Congressman Bulut stressed.
Dacyon served ASC as the College President from December 2012 to October 2017 before continuously serving the higher education institution as College Professor until retiring from the service.
From 2005 to November 30, 2012, she was the College President of the State-run Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) based in Bontoc, Mountain Province.
ASC officials, students, faculty and the provincial government of Apayao recently spearheaded the former retirement ceremony that was accorded for the honoree in recognition to her vital contributions in elevating the status of the states college to greater heights and instilling on the stakeholders the importance of collaboration to be able to achieve their established goals and objectives in further improving the delivery of quality education to the youth.
It was during the term of Dr. Dacyon as College President that ASC was able to host the annual conduct of the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Socio-Cultural, Literary and Sports Festival that paved the way for the higher education institution to be classified as one of the fastest growing state universities and colleges in the region because of the promising prospects on the sustainable implementation of various programs, projects and activities that were geared towards uplifting the state of the college to be at par with similar institutions inside and outside the region.
