STA. MARCELA, Apayao – A 39-year old survey aide died after he was accidentally electrocuted while undertaking survey activities in the irrigation canal at Panay, here, Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Felix Dayag, officer-in-charge of the Apayao Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Jeffrey Mercado Apaga, 39-year old, married, survey aid of NIA, and a resident of barangay Quezon, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim, together with the members of a survey team, were conducting survey activities in the irrigation canal when he accidentally slipped causing the 5-meter rod that he was holding to get in touch with the primary line of the Cagayan Electric Cooperative (CAGELCO) that resulted in his electrocution.
He was rushed by his companions to the Sta. Marcela District Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
