TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Tabuk City Local Government, led by City Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero, met with barangay officials and residents of Barangay Magsaysay to assess their accomplishments and draft their barangay development plan for the years 2023 to 2025, which included their top priority projects.
Construction of an evacuation center, the purchase of a lot, the completion of a daycare center, the improvement and construction of roads and canals, the completion of a senior citizen building, the construction of a bridge over Abogado Creek, the construction of a school building, livelihood projects, and a youth development program are among their top priorities.
Magsaysay is one of the city’s 43 barangays with the largest fund allocation, with P23, 360, 000 in 2019 and P20, 900,000 in 2020. For 2021 and 2022, they were also awarded 68,209,000 and P13.6 million pesos, respectively.
With increased infrastructure development in the city, Mayor Estranero advised barangay officials not to focus solely on infrastructure projects, but to add programs aimed at holistic upliftment, particularly for the youth, among their top ten priority projects.
“Ag integrate tayo met a iti programs for spiritual upliftment specially for the youth, saan laeng nga infrastructure and economic iti kitkitaen tayo,’ the mayor said.
“Nu naurnos amin nga ubbing, nu mayat ti pinagdakkel da, awan iti problema iti barangay,’ he added saying that the barangay should be the forefront in supporting the Moral Recovery Program and the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council program of the city government.
Barangay revisit is an annual program spearheaded by the City Planning and Development Office to provide an avenue for the barangays to organize and suggest priority programs for the development plans of their barangay. By Mae-Ann Padilla
