TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The city government, under the leadership of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, in 2021 earmarked P17 million for seven infrastructure projects to develop Barangay Bantay.
Among these projects is the ongoing Php 10 million improvement of Sal-ao Road to turn the previously muddy and narrow access road into a two-lane concrete road with slope protection.
Once completed, the new road will primarily benefit residents in the remote sitios of Ulingan and Pagattac, improving their connectivity, reducing their travel time, and easing the hauling of their agricultural products.
The road is also helping boost tourism activity, providing access to a recently opened mountain resort in the area.
Meanwhile, in sitio Dalimuno, the opening and improvement of a farm-to-market road has been completed. According to barangay officials, the road is envisioned to connect to Barangay Magnao in the future.
Other completed projects in Bantay in 2021 is the rehabilitation of a spring water project that is providing potable water to about 72 families in sitio Mataddong, construction of a perimeter wall for Bantay Elementary School and Highschool, and the completion of the barangay’s gymnasium.
