TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In compliance with the various mandates of the National Government for a clean and healthy environment, the City Government Unit of Tabuk (CLGU) recently received a Plaque of Commendation from the Environmental Management Bureau- Department of Environment and Natural Resources (EMB-DENR)- Cordillera this June 26, 2023.
According to George Padalla of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the CGLU received the award for its exemplary performance and compliance with the integrated solid waste management solution.
“Lahat ng mandates natin regarding the solid waste management Act (RA 9003) ay na-comply ng local government natin,” she said.
Out of all the municipalities in the Cordillera, including Baguio City, Padalla continued, only Tabuk City was eligible for the prize because of all the accolades the city government had gotten for environmental protection.
Following the awards ceremony, the newly appointed EMB Regional Director Jean Borromeo and her staff visited the sanitary landfill to learn more about how the City of Tabuk runs and to express their appreciation for the CENRO’s handling of the city’s garbage.
