TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Schools Division of Tabuk City through its School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) is doing a fundraising activity in the form of selling printed white t-shirts.
This initiative intends to raise fund to assist 10 beneficiaries from both teaching and non-teaching personnel of the Division who are currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment and dialysis sessions in various hospitals within and outside the city.
According to Frances Gacuya of SGOD, there are a lot of employees of the division who are undergoing medical treatment for their illnesses, but the social mobilization and networking (fundraising activity) targeted chemo and dialysis patients only as the recipients need the continuous costly treatment.
The 10 recipients submitted a copy of their medical certificate to the SGOD before being qualified, she said.
The project was launched in October 2023 during the Teacher’s Day celebration, and as of this writing, a total of PhP268,000 was raised.
Whatever amount will be collected from the proceeds from selling of the t-shirts will be divided equally amongst the beneficiaries, and will be awarded anytime this month.
Romeo Agagon, also of the SGOD, recalled that a similar initiative called ‘walk-for-a-cause’ was spearheaded by the Division three years ago with the same goal of reaching out to Division personnel who are in dire need of assistance.
Agagon, who is appreciative of the support of employees of both government and private offices for this fundraising activity wishes to institutionalize programs like this to help more lives.
Cost of the t-shirt, with the phrase ‘Para sa matatag na guro’ is at PhP300 (adult) and PhP200 (kids), and available at the SGOD at the office of the city’s Schools Division. By Darwin S. Serion
