PASAY CITY – In celebration of the National Cooperative Month, the Cooperative Development Authority of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CDA-CAR) announced that the city government will again receive the second National Gawad Parangal award this year under the city category in Pasay City on October 13.
According to CDA-CAR Assistant Regional Director Fely Cenon, the Gawad Parangal aims to recognize the excellence of local government units (LGUs) in their involvement in the cooperative sector.
Cenon highlighted that the prestigious award is given to the LGUs in the country with exemplary performances to include the cities through the City Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) in its full support to various cooperatives in the city such as initiating the Sisterhood program, Koop Kapehan and Mentorship Program.
“Second daytoy nga award, as we continue the services, we should be aiming for the hall of fame in the national level”, Cenon emphasized.
She praised the full support of the LGU officials and employees in initiating various programs relevant to cooperatives and she encouraged Tabuk City to benchmark also in other LGUs to learn from their best practices in the country in implementing their partnership with cooperatives.
As the city is also aiming to be the First Cooperative City in the country, Cenon explained that there are a lot of processes to be done that will start from the officialdom of Tabuk such as the lobbying for the passage of a law in congress.
Meanwhile, CCEDO head Catherine Uera said that in celebration of the cooperative month, cooperatives in the city started hanging and posting tarpaulins in their respective offices.
There will be a walk and run activity to be participated by coop members in the city in the morning of October 6 and there will be a quiz bee in the afternoon. The city’s culminating activity will be on October 24.
On October 23-27, there will be a mini-trade fair of cooperatives and local entrepreneurs in the city. From October 25-27, a regional celebration will be held in Mt. Province.
