PIDIGAN, Abra – A 43-year old barangay tanod was injured after he was stabbed by a 28-year old farmer during a heated altercation while having a drinking session at barangay Suyo, here, Saturday.
Police Authorities identified the victim as Erlino Benauro Borillo alias Arnel, 43, married, barangay tanod while the suspect was identified as Jerome Alfiler Bisares, 28, single, farmer, and both residents of Suyo, Pidigan, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the suspect, together with a companion, were having a drinking spree in their neighbourhood when the victim, who was under the influence of liquor, arrived and joined them.
After several moments, a heated altercation erupted between the victim and the suspect that prompted the former to stab the latter several times on the different parts of his body.
The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment where he was later confined while the suspect was arrested by responding police operatives in the mountainous portion of the barangay.
Probers theorized that the motive of the incident was an old grudge.
