BAGUIO CITY – , The top four teams in the different divisions are beefing up for the scheduled semifnal final round of the YMCA inter-school basketball tilt on January 22, 2017 and will prepare to battle it out for the championship basketball excitement following the semifinals on January 29, 2017, both at the YMCA gym here.
Advancing to the semifinal rounds for the elementary division group “A” are Berkeley Aquanauts in number one position and UCGSHS in number two position. Lucban Elementary school A is in top position and Berkeley Wave in top two position for elementary group B. On the other hand, Our lady of Mount Carmel Montessori topped Cluster B, group A, while Saint Louis Aurora Hill placed second. Berkeley B, likewise topped group B while the YMCA Basketball Club landed number two team for the High School Boys Division.
The top two teams for each group in the Elementary Division Group “A” and “B” and High School Division Cluster B, Group “A” and “B”, will advance to the semi-final round following a Top 1 Vs. Top 2 crossover play system, through a two-to-beat mode of play with the number one teams in both groups A and B having the advantage.
Meanwhile, High School Boys Division cluster A top spot was bagged by Berkeley Passarell followed by Saint Louis University Laboratory High School in number two position. The University of the Cordilleras Grade School High School and Baguio City High School landed on third and fourth place, respectively.
The High School Girls Division was topped by Baguio City High School girls team. UCGSHS settled for number two. SLU-LHS came in number three and Berkeley came in fourth in the division.
These two brackets will follow a 1 versus 4, 2 versus 3, crossover system two to beat mode of play for the top two teams for the semi-final round.
According to the YMCA tournament committee, all games for the semi-final round will be played on January 22, 2017 at the YMCA gym here. Scheduled games will start at 8:00 in the morning with Lucban Elementary School facing UCGSHS Elementary on the first game. Second game will be between the Berkeley Aquanauts against Berkeley Wave. Third game will be for the High School Girls Division between BCHS and Berkeley, while UCGSHS will be facing SLULHS on game number four.
OLMCM will see action versus the YMCA Basketball Club in the first game in the afternoon for the High School Boys division cluster B, while Berkeley B will face SLAH on the second game. Berkeley Passarell likewise will be facing BCHS in the third game and SLULHS will see action against UCGSHS in the last game for the day.
