Bayambang, Pangasinan – As this town remains susceptible to election-related cases of violence and become a part of the election watch list, tycoon turned politician informed the press regarding the steps and measures that they have undergone for a peaceful elections.
In a press conference held last April 11 in his residence, businessman and now mayoralty candidate of Bayambang Cezar ‘CTQ’ Quiambao told that their party have filed a letter requesting the Commission on Elections to put the town under the agency’s control. According to him, their request have been accepted. He said that they were currently waiting for the results of the threat assessment from the Philippine National Police.
Regarding the harassment done to their party by their political opponents, Quiambao told that they counter these actions through legal process. “Kami po ay peace-loving people, kami po ay hindi gumagamit ng dahas, ginagamit lang po [ay] batas,” Quiambao told.
During the said conference, former lawmaker and now gubernatorial candidate Mark Cojuangco took the opportunity to call the attention of the press to seek help in publicizing cases of election-related violence in the town of Urbiztondo. “Mayroon nang tatlong barangay officials doon na pinatay na,” Cojuangco narrated.
The former congressman also called the attention of the electing body and suggested to put the town under their control. “Para maensure na true will ng tao ang siyang lumabas sa bayan ng Urbiztondo,” Cojuangco underscored. “Ang tao mismo ang magagalit sa kanila kung pupwersahin nila ang tao,” he added.
