CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City – The troops of Tactical Operations Group 2 (TOG 2), TOWNOL, PAF airlifted 850 boxes of relief goods to Basco, Batanes via PAF – C130 aircraft on Thursday, May 25, 2023. This is in preparation for the incoming typhoon ‘Betty/Walmar’.
A box of relief goods include food, water, and other items essential for survival during the impending natural disaster. The successful delivery of relief packs became possible through the coordinated efforts of DSWD Regional Office 2, OCD Region 2, NDRRMC, PCG, PNP, and TOG 2.
In a statement from the Commander of Northern Luzon Command, LTGEN FERNYL G BUCA PAF, he expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders and the troops involved in the successful execution of the delivery of relief goods to Batanes.
“Aside from constantly coordinating with various LGUs and line agencies in the different regions in mitigating the effects of Betty,” LTGEN BUCA added that “we are closely working with NGOs to continuously gather relief goods which are to be rationed before and after ‘Betty’ strikes the islands of Luzon.”
He once again echoed his assurance to the public, saying that “all units under NOLCOM are on standby to conduct Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Operations as soon as the need arises.”
NOLCOM has Army, Airforce, Navy, and Marine units which are strategically deployed across the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Cordillera Administrative Region as well as in the different Maritime Areas in the West Philippine Sea, Batanes Group of Islands, and Philippine Rise in the Pacific Ocean.
