LUBUAGAN, Kalinga – Two minor students were arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents after they attempted to transport more than P68,400 worth of marijuana in a police checkpoint at barangay Dangoy, here, Sunday afternoon.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGen Mafelino A. Bazar, both the arrested suspects were 17-year-old students, residents of Tabuk City, Kalinga, and newly identified drug personalities operating in the province.
According to the same report, the two minors were initially arrested by the operatives of the Kalinga PPO for disobeying the police officers and evading the established checkpoint in Brgy. Dangoy.
In the course of their arrest, a semi-tubular form of dried Marijuana leaves and stalks weighing more or less than 570 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of Php 68,400.00 were also confiscated from the suspects.
The inventory of the pieces of evidence recovered was conducted onsite in the presence of the arrested suspects and witnessed by Hon. Councilor Simi Colayot, Lubuagan; and Ms. Jannete Alagaoo, media representative.
The arrested suspects and confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the custody of the Kalinga PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit for documentation and proper disposition.
Charges of violation of the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are now being readied for filing against the arrested marijuana couriers. By Dexter A. See
