LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The basketball teams of Urdaneta City and Urbiztondo bagged the championship slots for Divisions 1 and 2, respectively, in the 1st Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games,
In the second game for the best-of-three series on August 25 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic center (NRSCC) gymnasium, Urbiztondo Mayor Martin Raul S. Sison II spearheaded his group to haul the championship crown against rival team Sta. Maria by a 14-point margin, 95-71.
The young mayor displayed his shooting skills, dribbling ability and blind passes that generated deafening roars and shrieks from the crowd.
In an interview at the sidelights right after the championship match, Sison thanked his team and supporters as he commended Gov. Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III for conceptualizing such activity.
Praising the governor, Sison said the Unity Games did not only serve as a venue for friendly competition among other LGUs but likewise provided a healthy activity for officials and employees to “relax and unwind.”
Meanwhile, Urdaneta City under Division 1 defeated its nemesis, Bugallon, 108-95. Bugallon is headed by Mayor Jumel Anthony I. Espino, who played exceptionally well and delivered numerous three-pointers during crucial times of the game.
Earlier, volleyball teams of Burgos and Alaminos City were declared champions after defeating their opponents, Aguilar and Sta. Barbara. For Divisions II and 1, respectively.

The championship games were personally witnessed by Gov. Espino and Urdaneta City Mayor Amadeo Gregorio “Bobom” E. Perez IV as well as Sta. Maria Mayor Teodoro A. Ramos.
It can be recalled that the provincial chief executive launched the Inter-LGU Unity Games on March 16 this year.
