TANUDAN, Kalinga – Three people died while nine others were injured after a van reportedly turned turtle along a descending portion of the national highway at istio Lonog, baranbay Mabaca, here, Friday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatalities of the vehicular accident as Roderick Sucliyao, Marcelina Sapon and Crisencia Cayangao , who were said to be teachers of a public school in the area while those injured were named as Ralyn Lugao Dao-ayan, James Ballay Abuwak, Fernando Salvador Ducasao, Ariane Kathlyn M Dalanao, Leonida Abuwac Puctiyao, Hubert Abuwac , Francisca Dangpason Addagan and Nathaniel Dalanao Jr..
Initial police investigation showed that the ill-fated van which was driven by Jay-ar Salvador Ducasao came from sitio Dumanay, barangay Babbanoy, Tanudan and was bound for Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga and while traversing a descending portion of the road that had sharp curves, the vehicle suddenly rammed into a concrete wall that caused the driver to lose control that resulted to its having to turn turtle on the road.
Responding police operatives and emergency responders immediately rushed the injured individuals to the Kalinga Provincial hospital and Almora General Hospital for medical treatment while probers are still conducting an investigation on the cause of the tragic accident that claimed the lives of the three teachers.
