LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap continues to pour in the needed assistance to the people of the province through the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) Benguet chapter.
Last Wednesday, Yap’s congressional district office turned over to the 13 municipal mayors the third wave of rice subsidy consisting of 40 cavans each of 50-kilo rice that were brought to the province to sustain the support to the people of Benguet who had been heavily impacted by the ongoing implementation of the extended Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
The continuous delivery of the rice subsidy to the people of the province through the LMP Benguet chapter is over and above the provision of Vitamin C supply for senior citizens, the mobile ‘ tulong’ program for the delivery of basic services and other assistance, the ‘Manok na Puti’ program, the provision of personal protective equipment (PPEs) to health facilities, cash donations, among other forms of assistance, that had been given out since the start of the ECQ implementation.
Last week, Yap turn over to the LMP Benguet chapter a similar number of cavans of rice which were distributed by the different municipal governments to their constituents as relief assistance.
Earlier, the lawmaker gave the LMP some 38 cavans of Thailand rice for each of the 13 municipalities that formed the first wave of assistance from his office with the use of his personal resources.
Aside from the various forms of assistance, Yap continues to purchase significant volumes of vegetables from local producers at the prevailing wholesale buying price in the vegetable trading post which will be subsequently distributed to members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors inside and outside the province.
LMP Benguet chapter Secretary-General and Mankayan Mayor Frenzel Ayong expressed the gratitude of the people of Benguet to Congressman Yap for going out of his way and spending and utilizing his personal resources just to ensure that any assistance will be made available to the constituents of the province for them to be able to cope with the ECQ.
“ On behalf of the people and officialdom of Benguet, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Congressman Yap, our beloved caretaker congressman, for his passion and dedication in extending whatever available support within his personal and official capacity to help lessen the impact of the prevailing enhanced community quarantine to the living condition of the people,” Mayor Ayong stressed.
Ayong called on provincial and municipal officials as well as concerned sectors of the province to continue providing the needed inspiration and motivation to Congressman Yap for him to sustain the provision of any support he could access for the benefit of the greater majority of the people in the different municipalities.
