PASIL, Kalinga – A 60-year old truck owner died while his truck driver was injured after their mini-dump truck suffered mechanical trouble and fell off a 50-meter deep ravine at sitio Cadamayan, Balatoc, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Eddie Sawil, 60, married, truck owner while his injured companion was named as Eric Wanawan, 30, married both residents of Ganattil, Balatoc, Pasil.
Initial police investigation showed that the truck which was loaded with aggregates was ascending along the road in the place of incident when it allegedly suffered from mechanical trouble that caused the driver to eventually lose control of the same until it fell off the 50-meter deep ravine.
The victims were immediately rushed by concerned citizens and emergency responders to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but the victim was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians while his driver was confined for further observation.
