PIDIGAN, Abra – A barangay kagawad died while two others, including a punong barangay, were injured after they were fired upon by still unidentified motorcycle-riding armed suspects along the Pidigan-Pilar road, particularly at Banay, Monggoc, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as barangay Kagawad Victor Dela Cruz Pisco while the injured individuals were named as Elida Sales Pisco and his sister Myrna Pisco Vasquez all residents of barangay Immuli, Pidigan, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed that the victims were proceeding towards Sitio Immuli on board an elf truck when they decided to stop in the place of incident.
While the victims were in the area, still unidentified motorcycle-riding armed men suddenly arrived and fired at them several times thereby inflicting injuries on the different parts of their bodies before fleeing towards and undisclosed direction.
The injured persons were rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but the kagawad was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians while the suspects are now the subject of a manhunt operation by responding police operatives.
