TABUK CITY, Kalinga October 22 – A 58-year old farmer died while four other individuals were hurt when their truck slipped in a muddy portion of the Bontoc-Tabuk road and plunged into a 25-meter deep ravine at Bagumbayan, Naneng, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the fatality as BanataoBaguiwan, 58, male, married, farmer native of Culayo, Tulgao, Tinglayan, Kalinga and resident of Nambaran, Tabuk City, Kalinga while the injured vehicle occupants were named as Winston Cawis, 46, male, married, farmer/driver and a resident of Balatoc, Pasil, Kalinga, Jerry Abay Daodaoen, married, farmer; Lorenzo Cawis, 30, single, farmer and Jess Abay Dao-daoen, 31, farmer and all resident of Balatoc, Pasil, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed that their vehicle was bound to the city proper when upon reaching the place of incident, a sharp curve and muddy portion of the road, it suddenly slipped causing the driver to loose control of the same until it plunged into the ravine.
Concerned rescuers and residents in the area rushed the victims to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but the lone fatality expired while undergoing close medical supervision.
