MANKAYAN, Benguet – A 55-year old mocker of the Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company died while a 29-year old trainee was injured after the two individuals were pinned by a load, haul and dump (LHD) truck in the compound of the mining company at Nayac, Sapid, here, Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as John Gamboa Bilagot, 55, married, mocker of LCMC, native of Tadian, Mt. Province and presently residing in Paco, Mankayan, Benguet while the injured individual was named as Edison Domilies Mating, male, 23, single, BS Mining Engineering trainee of LCMC, and a native resident of Guinaoang, Mankayan, Benguet.
Further, the suspect in the said incident was identified by the responding police operatives as Alfredo Deg-awan Padalla, 29, married, LHD Operator, native of Suquib, Besao, Mt. Province and presently residing at Nursery, Sapid, Mankayan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the suspect was operating the assigned LHD truck on the inclined portion of the area when its engine suddenly shut off that caused the vehicle to dis-engage its brakes and suddenly moved backwards in a fast motion.
The suspect shouted at the two individuals who were standing on the edge of the road when they were pinned down by the truck’s bucklet that resulted to them suffering from multiple head and body injuries.
The victims were immediately rushed by rescuers to the Lepanto District Hospital for medical treatment but the fatality was declared dead on arrival while his companion was confined for further observation and close medical supervision.
