2 Die in Dagupan City Shooting Incident

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – A shooting incident took place in Tapuac District, Dagupan City in front of City De Luxe Restaurant Bakeshop on August 23, 2018 at 9:15 PM.

Police Superintendent Jandale I Sulit, Chief of Police, Dagupan City Police Station, identified the victims as Johnny Velasco Baniqued, 47 years old, married, businessman, former Brgy. Kagawad; Oscar Fernandez, of legal age, married, Professor at University of Luzon and Peter Zabala Ramos y, 44 years old, married and all resident of Rivera
St., Brgy IV, Dagupan City.

Based on investigation, after having dinner/drinking spree at De Luxe Restaurant, Tapuac District, Dagupan City, the victims are about to board their service vehicle Mitsubishi Montero with plate number NJ 4307 when unidentified male persons fired upon them who later fled on foot to unknown direction after the incident.

Baniqued and Fernandez sustained multiple gunshot wounds on different parts of their body and were rushed in Nazareth General Hospital but both were pronounced dead on arrival by respective attending Physicians while Ramos who sustained four (4) gunshot wounds on his back was rushed to Trauma Specialist Group of Hospital to undergo medical treatment.

The assistance of the SOCO Team was requested to process the crime scene.

Recovered were: sixteen (16) pieces of fired cartridges of cal.45, five (5) deformed fired bullets, one (1) live ammo cal.45 and two (2) fragmented fired bullets.

Cadavers of the victims were turned over to Nazareth General Hospital subject for autopsy examination while surviving victim Peter Ramos is still confined at Trauma Hospital undergoing further medical treatment.

Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E Sapitula, PRO1 Regional Director, instructed the Chief of Police, Dagupan City Police Station to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the motive of the crime and to identify the suspects. He also ordered the acquisition of all possible footages’ of CCTV installed within the area to trace the
whereabouts of the suspects.
