PARACELIS, Mountain Province – Two people died while eleven others were injured when a dump truck loaded with passengers suffered from mechanical trouble and plunged into a 3-meter deep ravine along the Bacarri, Tabauk Road, particularly at Sitio Casag, Bacarri, here, Wednesday night.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Lorrea B Bocco and Lolita B. Vinoray while those injured were named as Cresencia Gubia-on Puyao, of legal age, Jethro Calayo Vinoray; 37, Paracelis; Dimple Bakilan Vinoray, 8; Rea Mae Balcanao Boccao, 19; Janivine Sangdaan Batoy; Santiago Calwat; Joseph Batoy; Hitler Talawec; Arcenio Wailan; Illen Ventura and Delia Balacanao Boccao, 49, all residents of Bunot, Paracelis, Mountain Province.
Initial police investigation showed that the truck driven by Robinson B. Baguiwan with 13 passengers was negotiating an ascending portion of the rod when it suddenly suffered from mechanical trouble that caused it to move backward until it fell on the deep ravine resulting to injuries of the victims.
Concerned residents, police operatives and emergency responders immediately responded to the accident scene and rushed the injured individuals to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital in nearby Tabuk City and the Tuguegarao-based Cagayan Valley medical center.
Probers reported that the truck incurred heavy damages while some of the injured passengers remain confined in the said hospitals undergoing close medical supervision for the injuries that they sustained by Dexter A. See
