Tuba, Benguet – Two people were killed while 26 others were injured when a Baguio bound passenger bus rammed into an electric post along Palipis-Aspiras (formerly Marcos) Highway particularly at Poyopoy, Taloy Sur, here, Monday afternoon.
Chief Inspector Corolina Lacuata, Spokesperson of the Police Regional Office in the Cordillera, identified the fatalities as Joseph Raine Messina, bus conductor, a resident of Balintawak, Quezon City, and Melba Suarez, a resident of Duhat, Malabon City.
Initial investigation revealed that the Baguio-bound Victory Liner bus was negotiating a curved portion of the road when the driver accidentally lost control of the vehicle, causing it to ram into an electric post on the side of the road that resulted to the vehicle suffering heavy damages.
Rescuers immediately rushed the injured bus occupants to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for medical treatment but the two fatalities died while undergoing close medical supervision.
Probers theorized that the incident was caused by alleged human error on the part of the driver.
