LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – More than 148 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed while a drug personality was arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during a three-day intensive anti-illegal drug operation over the weekend.
In Kalinga, the government operating troops were able to discover and destroy P148.5 million worth of fully-grown marijuana plants and 225 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops in various plantation sites in barangays Buscalan and Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga during the aforesaid operation.
The operating troops were composed of joint operatives of the of the Special Operations Unit-Cordillera, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, Regional Intelligence Unit, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, the different units of Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), PDEA CAR, 11 SAB PNP SAF, 503rd Brigade Philippine Army, and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.
Moreover, 350 pieces of fully-grown marijuana plants with a Standard Drug Price of P70,000.00 were also discovered by the anti-illegal drugs operatives of Benguet PPO in barangay Damuco, Kayapa, Bakun, Benguet. All marijuana plants found were uprooted and burned on-site, with samples collected for qualitative testing by the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera.
Meanwhile, in Abra, joint operatives from Bangued Municipal Police Station, and Abra Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit apprehended a 38-year-old tricycle driver, identified as a Street Level Individual, after he sold one sachet of suspected shabu weighing More or Less (MOL) 0.33 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of PhP2,244.00 to an operative who acted as a poseur buyer.
During the course of his arrest, another three sachets of suspected shabu weighing more or less 1.14 grams with an SDP of P7,752.00 were confiscated from the suspect’s possession. He is now taken into the custody of Bangued MPS for documentation and proper legal procedures, facing charges for violating R.A. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The arrested drug personality and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Bangued Municipal Police Station for documentation and the preparation of the appropriate charges against the said individual for violation of the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law of 2002.
