LUNA, Apayao – The Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) recently held an orientation and workshop on the Best Business Model Canvas (BMC) for the start-up category of the Young Farmers Challenge (YFC) Program on June 22, 2023.
The event garnered the attendance of twenty-five (25) young farmers hailing from the municipalities of Luna, Flora, Santa Marcela, and Pudtol.
The Provincial Office for Agricultural Services (POAS) and the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) provided support for the workshop which took place at the JLA Apartelle in San Isidro Sur, Luna, Apayao.
The YFC start-up program offers a competitive cash grant to young individuals interested in launching agri-fishery businesses. The program welcomes applications from aspiring agripreneurs, regardless of their background or experience in the field.
To qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria: a) be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application; b) be a natural-born Filipino; c) possess the necessary resources, network, or capability to engage in agriculture and fishery business within the region they are competing in; and d) if applying as a group, all members must meet the aforementioned eligibility criteria, and there should be no familial relation up to the second civil degree of consanguinity or affinity among the group members.
The YFC program actively encourages and welcomes the participation of MAOs in promoting the program to reach young individuals aspiring to become agripreneurs in the province. By empowering more youth to engage in agriculture, particularly in the field of agribusiness, the program aims to create opportunities for growth and development in the agricultural sector.
