QUEZON CITY – Thirty-six (36) students of Apayao Science High School bagged awards in Thailand International Math Olympiad (TIMO) and Hong-Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) Heat Rounds last January 21, 2024, at Tejeros Hall, AFPCOC, Camp Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
A yearly Mathematical Olympiad competition, TIMO is run by the Thailand Mathematics Society and the Olympiad Champion Education Center (OCEC).
All children who have significant interest in Mathematics have the option to compete in Mathematical Olympiad competitions through TIMO, since most Mathematical Olympiad competitions only target 0.1% of the top students.
The general student performance data, which highlight the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses in the areas of logical thinking, arithmetic/algebra, number theory, geometry, and combinatorics, will be made public by TIMO following the competition. The analytics can then be applied by the students to their unique learning plan.
Meanwhile, an international science competition known as HKISO is also organized every year all around the world. Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Integrated Science make up its four primary divisions.
HKISO assesses students’ knowledge according to their topic level and closely adheres to the science curriculum of Hong Kong schools. This enables participants to recognize their preparation strengths and weaknesses in many categories. The winners of the HKISO Heat Round may be able to collaborate with individuals from other areas to carry out some experiments in Singapore or, alternatively, Hong Kong.
Students that performed very well during the competition in both heat rounds of the TIMO and HKISO which was organized by Math Olympiads Training League Inc. (MOTLI) were recognized. 20 Gold medals, 10 silver, and 6 bronze medals and certificates were awarded to the students of Apsci who won places in the competition.
Danilo Cudiamat, the school principal, congratulated the winners and praised them for contributing yet another significant achievement to the school.
Additionally, Cudiamat expressed his profound gratitude to the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU), led by Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr., Congresswoman Leah Bulut-Begtang, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Luna for their steadfast support, which was crucial to their achievement.
The principal also conveyed his sincere gratitude to instructors Mercuria Menor, Mylene Dalliwag, Noble Marissa Domingo, and Jenny Ann Molina who helped the students develop their skills. By K. Castillo
