CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Joint operatives of Cordillera police and PDEA Kalinga intercepted a total of 37.3 million worth of marijuana bricks in a checkpoint conducted at Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga, early morning of April 18, 2021
Based from the reports received by PROCOR Regional Director PBGEN RONALD O LEE, Kalinga police received a text message from a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle described as Mitsubishi Adventure bearing plate no. NBZ 7232 allegedly transporting marijuana bricks coming from Tingalayan, Kalinga that will pass through Tabuk City.
Operatives then immediately established a checkpoint in Agbannawag-Bulo junction.
During the checkpoint, as the spotted target vehicle approaches, it suddenly turned left to avoid the operatives manning the checkpoint. This prompted the operatives to initiate a pursuit operation.
The pursuit operation ended in Brgy Lacnog, Tabuk City, where they found the vehicle left abandoned in the area.
Upon search of the abandoned vehicle, operatives discovered 8 sacks containing 311 bricks of alleged marijuana leaves weighing 311 kg with an estimated value of Php 37,320,000.00 stashed inside the vehicle.
All the seized marijuana bricks were inventoried onsite in the presence of a Barangay Kagawad and a media representative. Further, all confiscated evidence were brought to Tabuk CPS for proper documentation prior endorsement to Kalinga Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (KPCLO) for proper disposition.
Further, report from the Kalinga PPO Provincial Director, PCOL DAVY VICENTE LIMMONG, identified the driver of the vehicle as Sabado Guimba a resident of Sitio Pakak, Brgy Agbannawag, Tabuk City, while the other male passenger is still unidentified.
