ITOGON, Benguet – Five persons were successively arrested by combined security guards and police operatives for their alleged involved in high grading activities at Acupan, Virac here recently.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the arrested individuals as Mark Uyam Binalay, 21, single, miner, a native of Bangad, Tinglayan, Kalinga; Edmar Sabado Madam-ot,19, married, miner, a native of Cordon, Isabela; Robertson Las-ig Andress, 19, single, miner, a native of Cervantes, Ilocos sur; Ricarte Lungob Mendoza Jr. 33, married, miner, a native of Aurora, Isabela; and Romeo Chowan Bad-ay, 38, married, miner, a native of Ag-agwa, Besao, Mountain Province, all presently residing at Camp 6, Acupan, Virac, Itogon, Benguet.
The suspects were reportedly caught by security guards for allegedly stealing several sacks of ore owned by Ricky Akay, one of the contractors of Benguet Corporation.
The arrested individuals were temporarily released pending the results of the tests on the sacks of ores prior to the filing of appropriate charges against them.
