BONTOC, Mountain Province – Sixty personnel from various offices of the municipal government participated in a comprehensive Client Engagement and Inclusive Communication Training at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) Administration Conference Hall on June 25, 2024.
This training, a collaborative initiative between the and MPSPC, was designed to enhance the skills of municipal government personnel in effectively engaging with clients and fostering inclusive communication. The goal is to improve service delivery and ensure that all community members receive equitable and respectful treatment.
In his message, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., emphasized the importance of continuous learning and professional growth, highlighting the critical role that well-trained personnel play in delivering high-quality services to the community. He stressed that such training initiatives are essential for maintaining a competent and responsive local government workforce.
Meanwhile, MPSPC President Edgar Cue’s message, delivered by Chief Administrative Officer Dexter Lingbanan, mentioned that the training is inspired by the research ‘Lesbians in Blue: Social Relationship Effects on Police Performance and Managing Their Homosexuality at Work.’ This study has shed light on the critical importance of inclusivity and respect in the workplace, revealing how these elements significantly impact performance and personal well-being.
The training program featured several key lectures to include Conflict Resolution and De-escalation by MPSPC Legal Officer, Atty. Jose Co; Effective Client Engagement and Inclusive Customer Service by Hotel and Tourism Management Department Chairperson, Fenerlin Comafay; and Inclusive Language in Speaking and Writing by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Mark Preston Lopez.
This training is part of a broader initiative following the Memorandum of Agreement forged between the municipal government and MPSPC on June 22, 2023. The MOA outlines a commitment to jointly implement the college’s extension programs, which include initiatives such as Transforming Leadership, Administration, Governance, Policies, and Statutes Towards Community Development; iConnect: Bridging the Digital Divide in Mountain Province; and Key Skills for Office Management, among others.
The funding for the training was sourced from the municipal government Gender and Sensitivity Training Fund, Human Resource Development) Fund, and the MPSPC Extension Unit’s Gender and Development Fund. By Christy Mae C. Pangesfan
