CAMP MAJOR BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – A total of 60 Cordillera police, 50 from the Regional Mobile Force Batallion 15 and 10 from the Baguio City Police Office, finished the Civil Disturbance Management Operations Seminar (CDMOS) after five (5) days of training, from July 7 to 11, 2021 at the Baguio Athletic Bowl in Kisad Road, Baguio City.
On their closing ceremony, the 60 participants, composed of one (1) Police Commissioned Officer and 59 Police Non-commissioned Officers, were declared graduates of the CDMOS as they successfully completed the training.
The CDMOS is a 40-hour training on how to address various threats and emergency situations during rallies, demonstrations, and protests. It aims to equip police officers to have proper knowledge and skills in preventing civil unrest, likewise the sustenance of a peaceful environment for the people. Participants were capacitated with the different techniques and skills needed in conducting crowd dispersal and other civil disturbance.
In addition, the PROCOR Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO) also conducted a lecture on the Legal Considerations during operations to reiterate the importance of human rights in responding to civil disturbances.
Highlights during the ceremony was their Skills Demonstration showcasing various techniques, skills, and formations which they have acquired from the training.
As the Keynote Speaker, PCOL MYLES ANGEL S PASCUAL, Chief of the Regional Special Training Unit Cordillera, congratulated all the participants for successfully finishing their course. He further, reiterated that as they perform their mandated task, they must ensure a peaceful community, always remembering to observe maximum tolerance, and employ compassion and proper communication to the people which they will be facing in the firing line.
