Tabuk city, Kalinga June 13 – Seven suspected marijuana couriers were arrested by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents after they were found to be in possession of some P4.6 million worth of marijuana in a police checkpoint at Block 3, Purok 5, Bulanao Centro here Monday.
Police authorities disclosed that 2 of the arrested drug couriers were from Sta. Maria, Bulacan while 5 of them were from Angeles City, Pampanga.
Earlier, police responded on a tipped information from a concerned citizen relative to a silver GL Grandia van bearing license plate number NEI-1380 which was transporting marijuana in and out of the municipality since last month.
Further, the said vehicle was sighted the government operating troops at barangay Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
The anti-drug operation resulted to the confiscation of some 38 marijuana bricks weighing approximately 38 kilos with an approximate market value of P4.5 million., 2 small yellow half-taped wrapped bricks containing dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops weighing more or less 500 grams with a market value of more than P60,000 and 1 7/11 brown paper bag containing 10 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks with a market price of P1,200.
Other confiscated items were one blue traveling bag; dark blue jacket; red Jordan backpack; blue Xiaomi phone; blue Oppo phone; white iPhone; brown Samsung phone; black Oppo phone and one-unit Toyota hi-ace bearing plate number NEI 1380 with key.
The suspects made their entry at Mt. Province and planned to have their exit but hesitated and instead made their exit at Tabuk City where they were arrested.
On-site inventory was conducted in the presence of the arrested suspects duly witnessed by representatives from DOJ and Media; and one Barangay Kagawad of Bulanao, Tabuk City. By Dexter A. See
