CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Abra Police Provincial Office (APPO) scored anew in the campaign against loose firearm following the arrest of seven gun owners and the confiscation of several firearms and ammunitions in the province of Abra during last week’s Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO).
In the implementation of Search Warrant last Friday of August 23, 2019, three gun holders identified as Rogelio Bernales Dumlao, 67, widow, AFP retiree and a resident of Barangay Poblacion Pilar, Abra, Rodolfo Aban Dait Jr. 52, clerk of court MCTC Pilar, Abra and a resident of Barangay Poblacion Pilar, Abra and Giovanni Lorenzo Mendoza, 33, a resident of Laang, Langangilang, Abra were apprehended in their respective residences.
Their arrests stemmed from the confiscation of 1 caliber 45; 1 Caliber 38 revolver, 7 assorted magazines, 16 assorted live ammunitions, 9 assorted empty shells of different caliber, 1 front and rear sight assembly for M16 rifle and 1 black inside holster.
Another target of search warrant yielded four gun owners in their respective residences on August 21, 2019. They were identified as Ruben R. Ariota, Romar S. Franco, 48, teacher, Juliemar B. Ariota, 34, farmer, all residents of at Barangay Talogtog, Dolores, Abra and Alvin Barbosa Timbreza were all nabbed at Supiil, San Juan, Abra while Artemio Blanza Ballera, 42, farmer was arrested at Salideng, Saccaang, Sallapadan, Abra.
Items seized were 2 caliber 45 pistol, 1 homemade gauge 12 shot gun; 1 homemade cal. 22; 3 magazine assembly for caliber 45 and 65 pieces of live ammunition for cal. 45; 2 pieces live ammunition for gauge 12 shot gun and 2 pcs live ammunition for cal. 22. and 1 inside holster.
All arrested individuals together with the confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units while violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 was filed against them.
Moreover, 13 assorted firearms and one hand grenade were surrendered regionwide by concerned citizens during the operation.
