BANGUED, Abra – The Baguio City Division emerged over-all champion at the Regional Science and Math Festival held here recently after sweeping 387 points in both elementary and secondary levels.
In the mathematics competitions alone, the city outscored its competitors from the different provinces in the Cordillera region in both elementary and secondary levels.
Not contented with its standing, the City pocketed the first place in secondary science competitions.
Meanwhile, Benguet province landed second place in the overall ranking for amassing 314 points.
This gold and vegetable-rich province hauled first place in elementary science competitions.
Tabuk City, a first-time participant, landed third place with 205 points, thereby leaving the fourth place to Apayao province with 203 points.
This Regional Science and Math Festival is the biggest academic competition in the region. It is where young mathematics investigators, science researchers, damath and sci-damath players, quizzers and teachers who made Strategic Intervention Materials (SIMs) gather for competition.
This year’s theme is “Juan Science, Juan Math, One Nation.”
The participants in the recently concluded competition included Abra, Apayao, Baguio City, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province and, Tabuk City.
