PINUKPUK, Kalinga – An 18-year old motorcycle died while his back rider was injured after their vehicle collided head on with a utility vehicle along the road at sitio Kapannikian, barangay Camalog here Friday morning.
Senior Superintendent victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Roldan Guimbawan, 18 while his wounded back rider was named as Ryan G. Gamilla, 20, both residents of Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victim’s motorcycle and a jitney driven by Nory Paccad Bag-ay, 30, married were travelling on opposite directions when the motorcycle allegedly encroached the other lane causing the head on collision.
As a result of the said incident, the occupants of the motorcycle were thrown off their vehicle and banged their bodies on the concrete pavement inflicting multiple injuries on them.
Responding police operatives and emergency responders immediately brought the victims to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but the motorcycle driver died while undergoing medical treatment while his back rider is still undergoing close medical observation.
The driver of the utility vehicle surrendered to the police after the incident.
