TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Officers of the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) of Purok 3 Barangay Cabaruan were inducted today to mark a new phase for the organization.
The induction was attended by invited provincial leaders and employees of the city government particularly the Office for the City Agricultural Services (OFCAS).
According to newly-inducted president Isabel Omeccas, the major motivation for the formation of RIC in Purok 3 Cabaruan was to resurrect a group that had been dormant since 2018.
Omeccas believes that bringing the organization back to life will result in more participation from its members.
Nobleto Sagun, city agriculturist, stressed that the RIC organization is a partner of OFCAS in the implementation of agriculture-related programs and services targeted toward community development.
City Councilor Atty. Kristian Wandag, Vice Chairman of the Committee on Cooperatives and Associations, believes that the induction is relevant because March is International Women’s Month, and that the RIC is an organization that promotes women’s empowerment and economic development.
Also present during the ceremony was Board Member Lester Lee Tarnate, Committee Chairman on Tourism, Cooperatives, Organizations and Agriculture who said the success of RIC will lead to the success of other organizations present in the area. The official also assured that full support will be given to the organization.
In his message, City Mayor Darwin Estranero, represented by Henry Gupaal, asked members and officials to do their jobs well for the welfare of the community and to ensure that the disorganization does not linger long.
