La Trinidad, Benguet – Benguet Governor Cresencio Pacalso announced Sunday night that classes for Kindergarten to High School in the Province of Benguet will be suspended on Monday, October 17 as a result of the wrath of Typhoon Karen.
Pacalso made the announcement to allow the students to stay safe in their homes while heavy rains and strong winds of Karen is still expected to prevail province-wide as the weather disturbance is about to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The Governor advised school officials to check damages inflicted by Karen and make sure that the classrooms will be safe for the children when they go back to classes the next day.
Typhoon Signal No. 3 was hoisted over Benguet and Baguio C8ity late Saturday afternoon before being lowered the following day.
