LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao Provincial Health Office (PHO) started delivering medical help and services to communities in the province through Project Butsy or “Bringing Universal Health Care Services towards a Sustainable Program Implementation Yielding to a resilient yApayao” at Luna National High School (LNHS) gymnasium Luna, Apayao on August 7, 2023.
This caravan seeks to educate the community about the concepts and benefits of Universal Health Care (UHC), give barangay health workers as the barangay-level health and promotion officers (HEPO) an overview of UHC, and bring health services to the community through Project Butsy.
Its target participants include municipal elected officials, members of the expanded local health board, barangay health personnel, local government department heads, civil society organizations, non-government organizations, and members of religious sectors.
The project is in collaboration with the Department of Health Center (DOH) for Health Development of the Cordillera, Provincial DOH Office, Philhealth, PHO, the municipal and provincial governments. The group provides various sorts of aid and medical service for 7 days, one day for every municipality of the province.
Some of these services include dental, medical and other related health interventions which can be availed at designated venues.
The activity is planned to be held next in Sta. Marcela (August 8-Tuesday), then Flora on August 9, Pudtol on August 10, Kabugao on August 14, Conner on August 15, and Calanasan on August 16. By Jomela Dela Torre
