The Australian Embassy, the Department of Education and the Office of Rep. Mark Go recently launched the pilot project Go and LEAD or the Leadership Excellence and Advancement of the Delivery of Education Results for some sixty seven school heads in the city to undergo the needed professional development learning.
Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu, Rep. Mark Go and regional and city education officials spearheaded the launching of the pilot project that will provide the city school heads with the appropriate exposure and trainings from December this year to August next year for them to be able to inspire and motivate teachers to strive for excellence in the delivery of quality education to learners.
Under this professional development learning program, the 67 public school heads composed of 45 principals in the elementary level and 22 school heads in the secondary level will be required to take up five modules that include self-awareness and assessment and digital learning in the next nine months to elevate their learnings to a higher level.
Ambassador Yu pointed out that the implementation of the pilot program on education development through the Education Commission is geared towards equipping the school heads to be able to inspire their teachers to establish an effective and efficient Philippine education system that will mold the youth to become agents of change in the future.
She claimed that the Australian government has always been a good partner to the Philippine government in terms of advancing the quality of the country’s education system for it to become possibly the best that it could be in the future.
According to her, ‘education bridges people, culture and countries that is why the improvement in the Philippine education system is necessary to achieve the best that it could be in the future.’
Ambassador Yu said that the education department has always been a constant development partner of the Australian government for many years that is why it is inclined to sustain such partnership for the benefit of the growth and development of Filipino youth for them to be able to become catalysts of economic growth, social advancement and overall progress for the Philippines.
The Australian ambassador underscored that the local school heads who will be undergoing the 9-month professional development learning should serve as a source of inspiration and motivation of their teachers to be able to effectively and efficiently implement the desired changes in the education system geared towards realizing advancements and improvements in the future.
For her part, City Schools Division Superintendent Zoraya Facullo expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Yu, Representative Go and the education department family for providing the avenue for the local school heads to gain advanced learnings that will be instrumental in achieving professional development attuned to international standards.
She disclosed that the whole program costs more or less P20 million which was provided by the Australian Embassy.
