LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET – The Baguio City Judo Team dominated the concluded Batang Pinoy competitions, contributing 9 golds, 4 silvers and 7 bronze medals to the overall medal standings of the city in the event held September 18-21, 2018 at the Benguet State University covered court.
The gold medal haul came from; Seth Pineda, Leerenz Tindaan, Marco Sotero, Wright Lonogan, Fiona Merino, Tala Tadeo, Kaye Ales, Gael Alberto, and Ulysses Addug.
The silver Medallists’ were: Jasper Clyde Lus-ok of the University of Baguio, Yngo Ramos, Zoey Itliong, and Aeon Kim.
Lastly, the bronze medallists were: Mikee Trinidad, Aeon Allan, Elquiko Quelino, Jeza Balayungan, Jammil Lorenzo, Mariah Pauly, and Sophie Aquino.
According to Head Coach Wilfredo Dino, the Baguio City Judo Team’s sweating it out during training and bonding paid off as the Kids hard work in the mats showed during the competition, making their dreams of being young champions true.
He added that the support of co-coaches Ferdinand Cudao, Angel Rillera and Senior Judokas Roland Dino, Sharon Dino, Rowena Lorenzo, Francine Rillera, Floyd Rillera, George Borja, Ily Cudao and other Senior Players, and the parents who stood by the Kids in unwavering support boosted their moral to be champions.
In the months training in preparation leading to the event, all have shared their talents and skills respectively with the aim to provide a family atmosphere that gave the kids the confidence they must have in order to be successful.
The 32 boys and girls that composed the Baguio City Judo contingent was mostly from the YMCA-KAITAGI Judo Club.
Meanwhil, the Cordillera Judo Association, which binds all Judo Clubs in the City and Benguet, will be coming up with the “2nd Kitedio Mangibato” Judo Tournament come November 2018 for the local Judokas to be exposed in tournaments and gain more experience in competition for better learning he said.
