As part of the celebration of the founding anniversary of Aurora province, an annual skateboarding competition is being conducted as part of the activities lined up for the said celebration.
Skateboarders from Bulacan, Manila, Pampanga, Cavite, Marikina, Tayabas, Quezon, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Ilocos, Iloilo and Catbalogan, Samar took part in the said prestigious skateboarding event.
Diaz, a Baguio resident, bagged the first place in the Tito’s category for those aged 35 and above during the 15th Aurora Day skateboarding competition held in Baler, Aurora last February 11-12, 2024.
Further, he has been actively skateboarding since 2002 at the age of 14 in 2002 and actively advocates the promotion of skateboarding as a sport within the city.
He owes it to the fact that skateboarding is now a sport duly recognized internationally and locally as it debuted in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
The council stated that with its growing popularity in the country by the exposure brought by the likes of Marjielyn Didal, skateboarding is now gaining recognition as a legitimate sport.
Copies of the proved resolution will be transmitted to Diaz for his information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
