BAUKO, Mountain Province – The municipal government recently received from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) a new ambulance to help enhance the delivery of health care services to the town’s remote villages.
Mayor Randy Awisan formally received the ambulance from PCSO officials in simple turnover rites held at the PCSO main office along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City.
He said the ambulance will greatly help in improving the mobility of health care workers, especially in the implementation of the municipal government’s health care programs geared towards enhancing the delivery of health care services to the people, particularly in remote communities of the municipality.
The municipal chief executive reported that Bauko is one of the qualified recipient municipal governments in the province of new ambulances from the PCSO for the enhancement of their respective health care programs, considering it as a vital service that should be provided to the people for them to remain healthy and productive in their endeavors.
Mayor Awisan expressed his gratitude to all those, who in one way or the other, extended the assistance for the local government to be able to acquire the new ambulance from the PCSO without shelling out a counterpart to guarantee the release of the vehicle to the municipality.
According to him, the municipal government will continue to access all available support from concerned government agencies to help in addressing the various related projects in the local level to spur economic activities and sources of livelihood while ensuring that the residents are able to avail of quality health care services not only from the national government but also from rural health care facilities.
The mayor remains optimistic that the his administration will be able to avail of programs, projects and activities of various government agencies so that the municipality can meet the increasing needs of the people, especially basic services, and providing people with appropriate assistance for them to be able to improve their existing sources of livelihood and eventually become drivers of the local economy.
Awisan is serving his first term as the municipal chief executive after besting his rivals for the mayoralty post during the May 9, 2022 elections.
Bauko also hosts the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital, the only regional hospital in the Cordillera to date.
Moreover, Bauko is the largest municipality in Mountain Province having a population of more than 34,000 and a land area of more than 22,000 hectares located within the Mount Data National Park which is the headwaters of four major river systems in northern Luzon, the Agno, Chico, Magat and Abra rivers, providing substantial water supply for power generation, irrigation, agriculture, commercial and domestic uses for the lowland communities.
