BAGUIO CITY- A total of 19 women from Sta. Escolastica, Baguio City were capacitated by the Baguio City School of Arts and Trades (BCSAT) through a 3-day free training in cake making at the Sta. Escolastica Village (SEV) Barangay Hall. The activity started on September 28, 2021 and culminated on September 30, 2021. Diana Basinga, BCSAT trainer facilitated the training.
The participants are all members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) of Barangay Sta. Escolastica Village, Baguio City and 3 are kagawad of the barangay.
The training was conducted at the SEV Barangay Hall, 2 batches in a day to comply with the Inter-Agency Task Force protocols and guidelines. The venue was inspected by BCSAT to ensure the safety of the learners, trainer, and all other stakeholders that participated in the training.
The training started with a simple opening program attended by the BCSAT Vocational School Administrator, Arlene Cadalig. The administrator encouraged the participants to do their best so that they need not buy cakes during special occasions and that they can also sell and earn money.
“Ang BCSAT po ay hindi maniningil sa inyo ng kabayaran sa training na eto, pakiusap lang po sana namin na tapusin ninyo at sana ay magamit ninyo na panimulang kumita para sa inyong kabuhayan dahil yan po ang layunin ng ahensiya natin,” Cadalig said.
On behalf of the KALIPI, Barangay Kagawad Ruth Rio expressed their gratitude to BCSAT for considering their request for training most especially that BCSAT did not collect any amount as payment for the endeavor.
To formally conclude the 3-day free skills training on Cake Making to the 19 members of KALIPI, a closing program was held just after the national assessment on October 2, 2021 at the BCSAT FBS Hall at 4:30 PM. The program was attended by the graduates, Kagawad Reynaldo Guanzon, BCSAT Administrator, Arlene Cadalig, trainer Diana Basinga and BCSAT school registrar.
To assess the acquired skills of the participants, they have submitted themselves for assessment. They have undergone the national assessment on Cake Making Leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II on October 2, 2021, and passed the national assessment. Only 17 have undergone the national assessment. Passing the national assessment made them happy and proud that they were able to perform well despite the limited number of training days.
During the closing program, SEV Kagawad Reynaldo Guanzon welcomed the participants and delivered his message as well.
“Before anything else, let us give a round of applause to Ma’am Arlene Cadalig, for accepting the request for training and for the full support they gave us and for providing you the training for free, to Ma’am Diana Basinga, for imparting to her knowledge in cake making and Ma’am Vilma Tolarba for the coordination of the training. I hope that the training will not end here, instead, keep practicing and make use of it,” Guanzon said.
Before the trainees received their certificates, BCSAT Vocational School Administrator, Arlene Cadalig conveyed her message to the participants.
“Congratulations to all of you for finishing the training and congratulations for passing the national assessment. We were not mistaken in providing free training to your group because you have done your part; you have successfully completed the training and have taken the assessment. By passing the national assessment, it means you are competent in cake making. I agree with Kagawad Guanzon, I hope your training will not stop from here. You must continue honing them so that you can use them to earn additional income. Sana itong natutunan ninyo ay magamit ninyo para sa ika-aangat at ikabubuti ng inyong pamumuhay,” Cadalig ended.
The Barangay awarded a certificate of appreciation to the Baguio City School of Arts and Trades.
The president of the SEV KALIPI, Rosemarie Sial closed the activity by expressing gratitude to BCSAT. By VWT
